Marquis Mathis, Clinical Counseling Intern


Marquis Mathis is a Professional School Counselor. He serves at Duke Ellington School of the Arts in Washington DC, managing 9-12 grades cohorts as a full-time operating counselor, supporting social-emotional development and academic excellence.


Marquis have earned a Master's Degree in Counseling at The John Hopkins University. He currently lives in Clarksburg, MD with his wife and three children. 


Marquis interests are working adolescents' families and couples, while attacking and addressing themes surrounding anxiety, stress, self-esteem, organization, relationship issues and loneliness using theories such as Gestalt Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy and Existential Therapy to counter potential presenting problems.


Marquis hobbies are reading, writing poetry, attending sporting events, exercising, cooking, and spending time with his family.
