Kathy D. Griffin, Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and National Certified Counselor in the State of Maryland.  A graduate of Loyola University Maryland with a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with an emphasis in Pastoral Counseling.

Are you looking for a warm, personable, and objective therapist to help you navigate through the troubling happenings of your life? Look no further, here I am! I am familiar with many theoretical frameworks, and normally approach the counseling space within the Cognitive Behavioral, Client Centered, Solution-Focused, and Narrative frameworks informed by Psychodynamic techniques to help clients get back to a balance.  I provide a personalized approach customized to help each individual, couple, or family build on their strengths and attain the growth and change they are committed to accomplishing,

I have experience working with children and adolescents (ages 3 to 18), who have significant emotional problems related to traumatic life events (e.g., posttraumatic stress disorder, fear, anxiety, sexual violence/abuse, grief or depression) and/or who are experiencing sexual behavior problems involving sexual body parts that are developmentally inappropriate or potentially harmful to themselves or others. Utilizing Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) to help them tell their story as they resolve the emotional and behavioral scares and move towards recovering and healing.

The therapeutic space can be a very powerful tool in relieving distress, learning about oneself, and filtering through the distortions that prevent a person from living a more fulfilled authentically happy life.  At the core of my therapeutic approach is the understanding that a nurturing, open, genuine, and trusting relationship is paramount for counseling to be successful. To that end, I bring a warm, personable, empathic, and compassionate energy to my clinical work and aim to embody a safe space where you can freely express your thoughts, feelings, and emotions without fear of judgment. I aim to work collaboratively with you, to respectfully challenge you, and to assist you on a path toward personal growth and positive change. I strongly believe that everyone possesses inner strength and resources to overcome the troubling obstacles in their life; my role will be to help you discover, activate, and build upon your inherent abilities.

I am a Christian. I enjoy spending time outdoors, embracing my yoga mat, making memories with family and friends, traveling, relaxing, and most of all, helping others.   [email protected].
